I tried the cheapo stones, I tried a belt sander, I tried one of those sharpening tools you pull the blade through. I could never get a sharp edge with any of those. I was able to get very sharp edges with these stones and the leather strop. The instructions say to soak the stones for about ten minutes and you don't need any lubricant. I don't think I trust that so I use dish detergent as a lubricant and it gets great results.

My wife requested a sharpening stone for use on our dulling knife blades. I found this particular one and placed my order. She was very impressed with the design and its various grade sharpening stones.

This is a NICE kit. One fatal flaw get rid of the wooden base I don’t care what kind of wood it is it will MOLD Replace it with a plastic water tray with nonslip bottom trust me customers will appreciate the water tray.

We're very good. I've had a lot of stones in my life and they seem to cut very well. The only thing I wish they would do is be able to be kept in water all the time, so they're ready to go other than that. They're a great setup. The the stoneholder works good, just very nice thing when it comes with a leveler and the cleanup Stone, it's a good deal. I mean, I feel impressed with the strop but i have one already anymore

Bought for my husband for a early Father's Day gift.He hasn't used it yet but he was very impressed with it when he opened the box.It has everything & more to do professionally sharpening of his blades.

Nice kit excellent having all different grit stones to sharpen with.

This is a nice enough set. The stones seem to be quality and the bamboo holder is sturdy, but the little device to hold the blade at a correct angle is worthless for any but a large blade like a French Chef knife. Narrower blades won't work.
