CalphalonClassic Stainless Steel Sauce Pan, 3.5-Quart, Impact-Bonded Aluminum Base, Stay-Cool Handles

I've been using the Calphalon Classic 3.5 Quart Saucepan for six months now, and it has quickly become an essential tool in our kitchen. Even my husband, who typically doesn't pay much attention to our kitchenware, has been singing its praises.Despite being used several times a week, it shows no sign of wear. The design is robust, and the handle remains cool even when the pan is in use, ensuring safe handling. But where this pan truly shines is in the convenience it offers.The straining lid and pour spout are game-changers, making it easy to drain liquids without needing a separate colander. The measuring marks on the inside of the pan simplify recipe follow-ups and the tempered glass lid is a great feature that allows you to see inside the pan without lifting the lid, making things even easier and more efficient.Another major advantage of this saucepan is its versatility. It's oven-safe up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, making it easy to transition from the stovetop to the oven. Plus, it's compatible with various stovetops, including induction, gas, electric, and glass.We were so impressed by this pan that I gifted it to my best friend as a housewarming present. She used it for the first time recently and was equally impressed by its performance.I have no doubt that this will be our go-to pan for years to come. I wholeheartedly recommend this pan to anyone who appreciates quality, convenience, and efficiency in their cooking routine.

I like the feel of the pot. It has a nice weight to it and perfect for Rice, boiling eggs, small things. I will be looking to get another stainless steel pot soon. Great quality.

I purchased this pan to make steel cut oats because there is a point in the cooking that the oats always want to boil over (despite the fact that I’m standing there stirring). I was trying to avoid that happening, although I really questioned spending this much on a pan for that purpose. (I do love my Calphalon!) Turns out it was worth it! It’s become my go-to pan. Who knew? This is a fabulous size, quality, and cleans up easily. I bought this refurbished. It arrived in perfect condition. I’m very happy with my purchase!

The best feature of these pots are the glass lids and the pour spouts. Water can easily be drained without getting out another piece of equipment to wash. I also find the cup and oz. measurements on the insides of the pots very useful. They're not as heavy as some pots, which I like, as heavy pots can be a problem for a wimp like me once filled up. These pots worked well on our old induction cook top, and they work great on our new commercial gas range too. The handles stay fairly cool as the're hollow and long enough. I use "Bar Keepers Friend" to polish them up now and then and they still look like new. This particular pot is my favorite to make rice as I always seem to have my back turned when it starts to boil and this one is tall enough that it usually doesn't boil up all over the stove top.

For a mid-priced pan, I am satisfied with this Calphalon Classic saucepan. It feels quite heavy, the handle is comfortable, and I like the glass lid. On the other hand, although it is adequate for making soups and stews for our two-person household, the pan seems a bit small (you'd need to fill it almost to the top for 3.5 quarts, which could cause splashing). Also, after just a few uses, never cooking above medium heat, it has developed stains along the sides where food touched during cooking that will not come out even with Bar Keepers Friend. I'm not sure if not letting the pan cool completely before washing (as advised) contributed to this, but allowing food to cake in a pan as it cools would be troublesome to clean, so I rinse it with very hot water after cooking. Finally, I am somewhat concerned about the measurement markings inside the pan; a phone rep told me (if I understood her correctly) that the chemical used for these markings is PTFE, also known as Teflon, which I avoid in cookware due to its potential toxic off-gassing. But all things considered, I think this pan has many fine features, and I would recommend it and purchase other items in this line in the future.

I want to start upgrading and buying more stainless steel. I will purchase 1 every other month. I did lots of research on brands this came up. I want start purchasing al clad . I was glad measurements were inside of pot. Yes so much easier to clean. But after watching tutorials, I was doing things wrong in the past. Head the pan over stove for a minute or 2, then put oil in so it sizzles for a few minutes, also best if meat is not so cold when placing in pan. Then place eggs, meat or whatever you are cooking in. I was always in such a hurry to cook. I never let pan heat up, would throw oil in and then my meat. The oil would just absorb in the meat, gross, and my pans were a nightmare to clean. Now it's so much slicker!

Good size, my metal steamer fits in there good, I know the lid handle is metal, aka HOT duh. but I finally found a use for the pinchy silicone pot holders? they're for lids, ( PC purchase) I love this pan, , more taller than wide, which is nice for the steamer I had, and if you're boing with need to strain, the lid is great, watch out for that vent hole and the slotted side. The lid is heavier than you'd expect, I only mention the weight, because, picking up the pan with the lid, is heavier than what you'd expect.. ( being older, I don't pick the pans up as quick as I used to)
