I use these for my refillable propane bottles and for my disposable bottles that I have opened and partly used. Besides providing a better seal they help identify which bottles have been opened.

For years I've had to manage our propane canisters so the threads didn't get damaged. And when it happened, it was frustrating because you would end up with a canister of propane that wasn't easily usable until you repaired the threads. You also needed to be concerned with the threads in the device being attached to the canister becoming damaged. These brass caps are perfect to protect the canister threads and keep debris from getting into the valve. The rubber seal inside the cap also helps to stop leaking canisters.
