Strong performance. Machine dented from factory.
Updated Review: 26 February 2019Having used the machine for a few weeks now, I can confirm that my initial thoughts stand. It's an excellent machine! Having said that, its only after a friend of mine checked out the machine that I discovered that there was a small dent in the top right corner very close to the hinge. I haven't noticed this at all since I was more blown away by the design and performance. I must admit that I am a little disappointed, but this isn't a reflection on the machine. I've only left it on my desk and used it very very carefully. So I would imagine it came from the factory like that. I also note that my return period has passed, so not sure what I can do about it now. Excellent machine with a mistake on the quality control. My strong advice is to throughly check any items or devices you buy upon receiving it.Initial Review:Great alternative to the Dell XPS 15. I have no complaints about this machine. It looks incredibly nice and performs equally good. It's perfect for my video editing requirements. The packaging was of very high quality as well.

It truly is incredible!
I love the touch of the keyboard, it is so responsive and easy to use! I can't believe how little it weighs! It does everything! This is my second ASUS and I love my first one and still use it, but this laptop is even better! I haven't had a minutes problem with it. The only thing is it doesn't have a DVD drive and I have a little trouble adding programs to it.

AN IMPERFECT DEMI-GOD
This has been the ONE Windows computer that has never given me serious issues as far as ability to complete a task. It always gets the job done...a quad-core i7 with ssd is still viable for most users. I'm a musician, so I'm really heavy-handed on a pc with software, plugins, etc. and this thing handles 98% of whatever I typically would throw at it. To get that last 2%, I'd need to be running an M2 powered Mac.Where this laptop falls gravely short on is battery life, the speakers, and issues with the mouse/trackpad driver intermittently disappearing and reappearing when it wants. Battery life is abysmal at 2 MAYBE 3 hours if you optimize the settings and all you do is surf the web. Once you start doing anything creative or watching video (Youtube, Amazon Prime, etc), you get an hour of battery life. Be warned, you will be TETHERED to the adapter with this laptop. As for the speaker and mouse? You should opt for external anyways for the best experience. That goes without saying.Other than those things, I highly recommend this pc. It's a beast on performance, has a great screen, and a pretty tough build quality (I've dropped small amounts of water on the keyboard a couple of times and it still hasn't hiccuped)

Good idea, poor execution
I will start by writing about what I wanted out of a laptop. I previously had an Asus Zenbook UX31A that lasted me for over 6 years and I really enjoyed using it. Recently, I had been using an Asus Chromebook C302 as the main computer for 80% of my needs but I needed something else to replace it that can run Windows along with some power behind it for some very light gaming and video editing. I loved the build quality on both of those Asus devices. I researched for a while before settling on the Zenbook Pro line.Pros:Great specs (Core i7 7700HQ, 16GB ram and 1050 Ti)Thin for the amount of power packed behind itGood keyboard (always been happy with Asus keyboards)Decent battery life if just browsing the web or using OfficeGreat port selectionGood screenCons:Fingerprint magnet (the thing was covered after a day of use)Coil whine is very noticeable and it can take some time to get used toFan noise is audible even when I am just using the computer for notetakingDealbreakerThe screen is built very well with very little flex, however, the top of the keyboard has noticeable flex. I would not be so negative if it wasn't for the rattling noises by just using the keyboard. I was very disappointed by this after using two previous Asus products that had great build quality. And this problem surfaced after less a week of use.

Lives up to expectations
Do far so good. I work mostly with revit and sometimes with autocad.Renders quickly, very fast. The coil sound that people complain about doesn't bother me at all personally. Great computer for heavy programs like revit!

Better than Apple? I think so.
This computer is fantastic. I’m a photographer who needs durability, big storage, big memory and great CPU and video processing power. In my opinion this product exceeds Apple’s performance and at a much better price.

Elegant. Lightweight. Masterpiece
Coming from a HP Envy 15t-j000 Quad Edition, this laptop in many ways. I won't talk about the specs because everyone can look that up. I mainly wanted to point out that there is really no big difference between this laptop (UX550VE-XH71) and the UX550VE-DB71T. I was worried that the UX550VE-XH71 would come with a SATA interface instead of a PCIe interface, but to my surprise, it was a PCIe :-)Cons- Fingerprint magnet for sure, but with time you get used to it- Large adapter, but with up to 8 hours of battery life, you can occasionally leave it behind- Fan noise can become audible at times

Wasn’t put together well
Overall the computer is good but the screen was loose the day we took it out of the box. You can hear it pop if you put any weight on the top right corner.
