How does the stored water taste?
I purchased this container to hold water not fuel. My big concern was whether or not the water would acquire a taste of “plastic.” I opened the lid and smelled the opening of the container. It had a “new” type smell. I rinsed out the container and left the lid open for several days to let it air out. I filter all of my tap water with a common name brand “charcoal” water filter.I put a couple of quarts of my filtered water into the container and closed the lid tight. There was no water leakage. I left the water in the container for a couple weeks. Then I poured some water out of the container and into my glass. The taste test was perfect! No funny taste!! Couldn’t be more pleased. If I need to store additional water I’ll buy another one of these without hesitation.

Well made! I can lift this and it fits nicely anywhere in the car so I and my dog have emergency water supplies on road trips.

Bombproof, I own 8 now almost 13 years . The small pour spout doesn't come with an Oring.Stop by Napa auto pick a few up. The new cans come with an O-ring for the large mouth.about time) always buy the desert tan, you'll loose anything colored green in the mountains .

Much easier to handle when full, than five gallon cans.
I had!!! five gallon cans for camping, but when full they are too much to load into my truck or handle when camping. This 2 1/2 gallon size is perfect. I bought two. Amazon was significantly less than REI's price. These are great, well made (plastic) cans. I have had no leaks. They are easy to clean, since with the cap off you can reach in and clean the inside. I keep water in them, but have not noticed any algae growing in them (keep them out of the sun). Would buy again over any five gallon can I've ever had.

Great Water Jug.
This is the EXACT type of durable constrution of Water Cans that the US Military uses EXCEPT its half the size and hence, half the weight. Highly recommend due to the ruggedness.
