My bad
during the first use of this Stepdown 240/120v Transformerwith my USA home electronic device, this unit fried. It works for couple seconds, but all of a sudden it stopped, start smoking and smelling burn odor.I contact seller about this issue. They replied, and ask me to check on the power rating of the device I use with. Then only I realize, it was my mistake. The device I'm using withrating 1450 watts, which exceed this transformer max power. But the good news is, this transformer does great in overload cutout protection. It stops immediately when it exceed max power, so my device still working,I just get another higher max power transformer and its working well now.So, I strongly advice buyer, before buying this or any transformer, check the max power rating first. It should be higher thanthe device require power. Thanks for reading.

Failed A Few Days After Buying But Can't Remember What Was Plugged Into It
This failed after a few days. (Stepdown 240/120v Transformer USA to UK 100VA by Tacima, Sold by: In21 Direct for £17.90.)I bought this Nov. 2013. At the time I couldn't find the packaging, and then got distracted with life and forgot about it. Bought another one from Mercury a few days ago (Aug. 2016) which reminded me about this one and I kicked myself for not having returned it and gotten my money back. : (The one problem is now I cannot remember what I had plugged into it when it failed - my cat water fountain (which is 12v and has been running continuously off of a 45VA transformer for 2 years), or a sonicare toothbrush charger or something else? All I know is that it wasn't a hair dryer or such and it was def something rated under 100VA.So, could have been a one-off. But I'm happy with the 2 Mercury transformers I have and plan to just stick with that brand now.

Works fine
Difficult to review a product like this; it either does what you want or it doesn't. This works perfectly fine and does what you want - it allows you to operate electrical products designed to work on US voltages, in the UK, with no problems, up to 85 watts. It was delivered very promptly (3 days I think) and worked straight out of the box. If I work hard to find something bad to say and didn't mind being picky, then I'd say it's a squat, ugly little thing. It might matter to some people that there are more attractive looking transformers out there, but really this is a functional item not engineered to be aesthetically pleasing too, and certainly not at this price. The great plus of owning one of these is that I can now buy virtually any US electrical appliance and run it in the UK - great since US products are always cheaper than the UK equivalent even after you pay postage costs.

Buyer beware, enquire before you buy, only suitable for 50w appliances
Make sure you enquire before making a purchase about what you intend to use the transformer for. Despite it being advertised as suitable for 100w appliances, after purchase with the intention of using it for a 100w appliance as advertised (a toaster so minutes at a time) it broke after 10 seconds of use.I was then informed it was infact only suitable for 50% of the advertised wattage which is half the power of my toaster. It is a big heavy transformer feels like the business so very disappointed it could only handle my Darth Vader toaster for 10 seconds. Now I am faced with a waste of money on not only the transformer but I think might have burnt out the toaster so a very expensive short lived fantasy.

Working well with a Roland-LX 15 digital piano
i ordered this for my Roland LX-15 digital piano I brought to the UK from Europe. I was terrified the piano would blow up, or it wouldn't work. This model was suggested to me by Roland albeit with zero guarantees it would work. However, it works GREAT. The piano requires about 85Watts, and I find the unit barely gets luke warm. Maybe if I play for hours it may heat more but I have no idea because I just received it and haven't run the piano for that long yet. I was just worried about it getting quite hot from the other reviews but I suppose it depends strongly on what you plug into it. It is working really well and I am happy with it so far (used it about 3x). I hope it continues to work as it has in the first few times.

Does The Job!!!
I was very impressed with this product! It worked perfectly! No noise (as some people have said), maybe they had "bad luck"...... Mine was fine, I use it for an American product (rechargeable heat wrap for lower back) it is fully charged within 3hrs, I was a bit nervous the first time, as the instructions say you should not use the transformer for more than one hour at a time, however, I found that it did not " blow up" or smoke, or make any noises etc to indicate that it was getting too hot... I thought it would just "cut out" if the voltage etc was wrong(as I'm not technical).I'm 100-% Happy!!!! My lower back is warm "out & about"! Excellent!

Sometimes you get burned (and I don't mean on price)
It's like a fun lottery when you use it. Will I get shocked today, will I get burned, will it fill the room with smoke or will I win today!I left an ok review for this before because I was stupid enough to review it after using it 2 or 3 times but after a month... BANG! So I thought I'd warn you all. It didn't just break, it set fire to something in my house, it also shocked me once and left a nice burn mark on a nearby wall. It seems like a bit of a gamble with these, when it comes to electrical goods you have to buy quality and quality is expensive, this is a cheap one.

Smoudering within a minute
Would have given this product less than one star if I could. I purchased three units, I have recently moved from Canada and brought some small electrical items with me. I plugged in my Keurig coffee machine using the step down transformer. less than a minute later the transformer started smoking and the coffee machine lost all power. it was frightening if I had walked away I could have had a fire on my hands. I have relayed the details to Amazon who have asked me to check the other two units I purchased but to be honest I haven't been inclined to yet.
