AKAI MPC Studio Music Production Controller - Slimline

I love this controller! It was easy to set up (although I had a few initial firmware issues which have now been resolved) and is an extremely powerful music/ beat making tool. As a total beginner to this kind of thing, part from playing around on a Korg PadKontrol, It does require a lot of time and dedication to even begin to understand how it works but there are plenty of videos and tutorials out there which help in the learning process. I'm a long way from being a Damu and Madlib and will most certainly never reach these heights but am having fun trying to get there ;0)).

Good kit. I am only writing a review now after having the goods for 6 months. This is because I didn't know where to start. I tried learning alone which is the hard way. I bought an eBook called Laid Bare by Andy Avgousti and what I learnt in one day has changed my thoughts on this great product.You have to purchase the two together. I don't know why Andy don't sell the eBook on Amazon...but...maybe he does. It's £19 and compliments the Mpc Studio/Renaissance to the T.

fast well packed delivery, its all that and then some!!!.. if your old skool or new to MPCs this is the choice now. excellent work flow.. honestly the best bit of kit ive brought for production beat making for a long time.. top product and great value recommend all day

Decent bit of kit and as portable as a laptop read the set up instruction and follow them to the letter

I bought this 3 months ago but am only just gotten round to installing the software , Does it operate as a separate 'plug-in' in your DAW ? Mine is Cubase.?

Simply put you need this it's that good , takes you away from a screen and puts the fun back in to making beats , fluid organic and the work flow is off the chart , once you have got the hang of it you don't even need to touch the software you can do it all from the hardware !!!!!If you are hesitant about shelling out £275 don't be worth every penny and more ;-)

I messed around with many software DAWS in my time but there is something about the hardware and workflow with a MPC that makes creating music a lot easier. Of course the MPC Studio now fully integrates into your DAW. I did get the MPC studio limited gold version, I recommend it as it not only works well but also looks good. I hear there are only around 50 units in the UK! Setup, took a little while mainly due to having to update all the supplied software to the latest versions. I do hope Akai continue to support the unit with software updates although the program is stable and many bug free after it's update. Great piece of gear!
