Q: Are any of the ball bearings supposed to be loose and rattle? One of them is secure but the other on rattles...

When no bit is in the handle, the bearings make a little noise if the handle is shaken, however when the bit is inserted its solid. I suggest all theat matters is if the bit moves when inserted. The selling point of this handle is the lack of any slop when the bits inserted.

No its not telescopic. Its just as it looks in the pic.

Q: Will hold and lock in double ended bits?

Using Wiha double ended bits 30 mm long it will hold and lock with about 12 mm protruding. Hope this helps.
