Misfits Season One

This review is about seasons 1-3 as a whole instead of just season one.I came solely to see Iwan Rheon in his role of Simon Bellamy, and wasn't really expecting much from the show itself. However, I was very pleasantly surprised and ended up absolutely loving every bit of it. All of the episodes had me laughing out loud. Each of the five main characters are likeable in their own way, and their personalities and stories develop more as the seasons go on.Yes, Nathan leaves after season 2, but his replacement, Rudy, is just as funny and enjoyable to watch. After season 3, however, all of the original 5 characters are gone, so I stopped watching.I mentioned this show is funny. Well, it is surprisingly emotional as well. Season 1 is mostly light-hearted and not too big on the feels, but seasons 2 and 3 really up the ante as different relationships develop between the characters. The season 3 finale -- I have never cried so hard over an episode of TV in my life, and I watch the likes of Game of Thones and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.There really isn't a show in America that Misfits can easily be compared to. Some say Heroes...some say Buffy...and while Misfits does include some of the elements that make both of those shows good, it really stands on its own. Is it a show about super heroes? Not entirely. Is it a comedy? Well, maybe, but again, a bit too emotional at times to be considered a straight-up comedy. It's more like...a tongue-in-cheek drama type thing. What's important is, it's good. Really good.Yes, the show is extremely vulgar. Violence, sex, drugs, and foul language run amok. If that stuff doesn't bother you, or you're able to look past it, it doesn't detract from the show's value at all....it is kind of what makes the show as fun as it is. So if vulgarity DOES bother you, then I would probably take a pass on Misfits.Again, there's nothing like it here in America. It kind of makes me wish our TV was this good. Seriously. The only downfall to this show is that the seasons are so short--I wish they gave us more time with these characters. But overall, 10/10, would highly recommend.

Season 1 was all time. The rest isn't as good but I'd go back to this any time!

Have turned so many people to this show and it almost always becomes one of their favorites.

This Season is Hilarious 😂 great show

After watching all 3 seasons of Downton Abbey, I was looking for a fresh interesting British show. I read some reviews about Misfits and decided to give it a try. This is a really good show, the first 2 seasons are really good. It is about a group of youngsters who obtain powers, each one has a power and they slowly come to terms with it. Season 1 is all about them realizing their power and dealing with it. It has some slapstick comedy but all in all a really fun show with interesting characters. The cast is quite good and plays the characters really well. I enjoyed watching all of season 1. What I like best about this show is that despite having powers, the characters are not off to save the world, instead they continue with their daily work and use the powers from time to time. Having watched so many shows where characters get power (Heroes, 4400) and these powers change their whole life, I like how the characters here continue with their old self and incorporate these new powers. Of course they all grow and learn, but they retain their old self.

This is just my opinion, but only the first two seasons are worth paying for .....even though the main storyline doesn't really conclude (the time jump) until the end of the third season. Third season was sorta pointless and the sudden disappearance of Nathan and replacement of him with the VERY noticeably older character of Rudy who was cast basically as a complete duplicate character model of Nathan it just was not a good choice. Nathan was at least cute and his annoying character was easier to like, but Rudy is just not. Anyway, stop at season two if you want a funny/cute story thats entertaining and exciting. Go through to season three if you really want to see the conclusion of the time jump (its not that great). Season four....it just really starts dragging with a caveat of WTF moments that well you just have to watch to say, wait WTF? Did they really just do that? Still first two seasons are the best written with the best cast. The replacements are funny in their own right, but it seems like the writers just were going in all different directions cause they didn't know what to do anymore after the main storyline was complete.

I have not always enjoyed British TV, probably for the fact that I am picky about TV shows in general, but Misfits blew my expectations out of the water. Misfits is about five teenagers who are forced to do community services payback for their crimes. They are all hit in a crazy electrical storm and start to realize they each have some kind of power. I don't want to give anymore away because part of the fun is finding out stuff yourself. Now this is nothing like Heroes or any other superhero thing you've ever seen, as the characters are more layered and rebellious (as most teenagers are). The acting is great and the comedy, though dark, is genuinely funny. The tag line on the bottom of the US cover says "SEX, DRUGS and SUPERPOWERS"... And thats what it is. I highly recommend it and look forward to the rest of the seasons to get a region 1 release.

This show is absolutely amazing and very lengthy in episodes as each episode is 45 minutes long - I enjoyed the first 3 seasons of this show and would recommend anyone to get this dvd set because each episode is very exciting and the characters play their roles well - A+++++

I'm 43 years old. I've never watched an episode of Skins in my life. I'm probably not the intended audience for this series. However, I've always loved certain aspects of superhero/strange powers bequeathed to unexpecting individuals stories and I can say, hand on my heart, that this series seeped into my soul and I found myself loving it.At first I wasn't sure if I'd hate this little band of troublesome teens but, as time went by and deep characterisation was revealed and an incredibly talented bunch of actors brought them to life, I found that I was endeared to them in the way that I am, say, with the cast of Trainspotting. In other words, I love watching their twisted exploits even if I'd never actually want to meet them in reality.And the writing is very mature, very intelligent and very complex too. There are some wonderful plays on SF tropes, such as a character being able to shift backwards in time to try and right wrongs (to disastrous effect) and horror conventions, such as a the classic chased-by-maniacal-Zombie-esque figure storyline.Howard Overman has bought us a series that transcends its seemingly obvious late-teen flavour and allows anyone who has an interest in the genres of horror and science fiction to appreciate and enjoy this very British and very quirky series. It's intense, creepy, scary, sexy, amusing and very unique.This first series ends on a dark and highly amusing cliff-hanger and I'm so pleased that another one has been commissioned by E4, not surprising seeing the critical acclaim it has garnered from the press.

Diese Serie ist mit jeder Folge mehr meine neue Lieblingsserie geworden. Worum es geht wurde schon mehrfach beschrieben, deswegen lasse ich das weg. Man muss skurilen Dingen gegenüber aufgeschlossen sein, denn der Humor ist typisch britisch eher düster. Ich habe noch nie eine so facettenreiche Serie gesehen - sie ist spannend, lustig, teilweise beängstigend, rührend enthält sowohl Science-Fiction- als auch dramatische Elemente. Fakt ist: Wenn man einmal angefangen hat zu gucken und sich auf die Charaktere einlassen kann, will man nie wieder etwas anderes sehen und wünscht sich, die Serie würde nicht nur aus 3 Staffeln bestehen. Die ersten beiden Staffeln finde ich übrigens gleich gut, die dritte ist eher enttäuschend. Nicht, weil die storiers nicht weiterhin spannend wären, sondern weil mir persönlich der sehr prägnante Charakter Nathan fehlt, der am Ende der zweiten Staffel aufhört. Das ist wirklich ein Trauerspiel, denn er gibt der Serie so viel Witz und auch irgendwie Charme, die sein Nachfolger Rudy in Staffel 3 in keinsterweise ersetzen kann (Auch wenn diese Figur ebenso kaputt im Kopf ist ;-))Auf jeden Fall eine ganz klare Kaufempfehlung! Wer Misfits nicht gesehen hat, ist selber Schuld!
