I am a pro cook, and this is my knife.I have several chef's knifes, but this is the one i use 95% of the time.In part, the difference is the length. The 8.5-8.75 inch size (depends on who measures it) seems just right. 8" knives are great, but the extra 3/4 of an inch length come in handy at time, but does not make it unwieldy like my 10" blades sometimes are.Frederick Dick is a German knife maker that, in the past, only sold to pro's, not home users. But at least in the USA, you can find them, though they are hard to find.

Great knife, I think I can rid of a dozen crappy knives now.Beware, this is a large, very sharp knife but comes with no sheath.Cuts onions and meat like butter.. Barely touch it and it's cut through.

First thing first:1. I got the knife way earlier then expected, which was great2. The knife itself is really good and compact and very comfortable to the hand which is great!3. The knife came sharp and I was trying it so I’m glad that I bought it!

All though I didn't need it I picked up this knife because I found it deeply discounted.I was't sure what to expect as I had read mixed reviews. When it arrived it's fit and finish were excellent.For my hands I haven't felt many knifes that fit my hand as comfortably. I also feel that it has a nice balance between the weight of the blade and that of the handle and weight overall.It feels good with a variety of holds.This will problebly be my "go to" knife when one this size is needed.The edge when it arrived was sharp enough to shave hair.I haven't used it long enough to comment on edge retention but for everything I've chopped with it so far it hasn't lost that edge.I've purchased forged Henckels,Wusthof,Mercer,Messermeister,Lamsonsharp,Dexter to name a few and haven't ever been as pleased intially as I was with this knife.I am very happy with the purchase of this knife.

I have a selection of F Dick knifes and can't fault them. They stay sharp and are easily sharpened. This is my favorite for every day prep- an absolute workhorse of a knife!

Ich bin sehr zufrieden. Es ist mein erstes teures Messer das ich mir gekauft habe. Es lässt sich gut greifen und die Form der Schneide finde ich angenehm.Alle paar Benutzungen nutze ich ein Wetzstahl vom WMF (war Teststieger bei Stiftung Warentest). In die Spülmaschine tue ich es nicht. Ich denke deswegen ist es immer noch sehr scharf. Ich nutze es lieber als mein Keramikmesser.

Ich habe die letzten Jahre mit Keramikmessern gearbeitet, die sich leider trotz anfänglicher Schärfe nach mehreren Monaten täglichen Einsatz abnutzen.Ein Nachschärfen mit Diamantschärfern brachte wenig Erfolg.Ich wurde die Fa. Dick empfohlen und habe bereits zwei Messer gekauft und bin von Balance, schärfe und Verarbeitung begeistert.nachschärfen bringt sofort den gewünschten Erfolg.Ich werde wohl noch ein, zwei Messer kaufen.

Wer Dick kennt, weiß, dass hier Qualität geboten wird. Messer kommt äußerst Scharf schon in der Verpackung. Lässt sich leicht nachschärfen.Liegt optimal in der Hand. Gewicht perfekt.
