Outstanding

Some of the princes of hell....total dicks, but I have to say I'm team Wrath all the way,Nonna is great just what you expect from a Grandma and Antonio also a slimy prick, a very good read, cannot wait to find out what happens in book too, twists and turns, love and loss, just brilliant!

An interesting start to a series

Overall, it’s cool. The world is familiar with just enough unique aspects to make it feel fresh. I love the idea of the Princes of Hell being Sins and how their powers work. Every time we met a new one, it was so cool to see how their sin was their personalities too.And there was a lot of thought behind how each sin worked. Like Lust makes the FMC feel pleasure and happiness but the pain of removing those heightened feelings made him the worst sin.The romance between Emilia and Wrath felt really quick to me and for sort of no real build up. The banter was great between the two and I loved how they both challenged each other but I feel like the sexual tension could have been focused on a bit more so that the romance wouldn’t have felt as quick.I do think Emilia was my favourite aspect of the book. She starts off being very quiet and conservative in her magic to then being ready to take down anyone and anything. It was refreshing to see that take on an FMC.It did take a while to build up the pace and was a lil confused throughout but I’ll definitely read the rest of the series. If you like gothic and spooky vibes with witches and demon princes then you should definitely give this a go

A Phenomenal Read.

‘Kingdom of the Wicked’ follows Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria, witches who live secretly among humans in order to avoid notice and persecution. One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family’s renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin, then sets off to seek vengeance at any cost – even if it means using dark magic that’s been long forbidden. This book has been my most anticipated read of the year, being a huge fan of Kerri Maniscalco’s works and admiring her skills as a writer. So, there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to love this book, I just didn’t expect to love it quite this much.Emilia made for an absolutely brilliant protagonist. She’s brave, self-assured and slightly stubborn at times. She’s someone who takes no nonsense, not even from demons from Hell, and is desperate to avenge her twin sister, no matter what that would cost her. She’s an incredibly admirable protagonist, and it was a joy to read her journey from start to finish.Wrath was another character who was deeply enjoyable to read about, exploring his relationship with Emilia with the use of luscious description and bouncing dialogue. They interacted beautifully together, spitting bile at one another until their relationship softened more and I loved every moment I read about them.Although, Vittoria wasn’t mentioned much within the novel, her character meeting an unfortunate end quite early on, there was still a lot of character modelling involved in Maniscalco’s writing. This was a brilliant technique, making you feel for the characters after her death and caring about them; I was truly devastated, Emilia and Vittoria’s relationship being wonderful to witness up until that point. The writing itself is wonderfully written, with lengthy descriptions and entertaining dialogue. The setting was explored beautifully through interactions between the characters, with explanations dotted around for those experiencing language barriers. That’s not to say that this book holds your hand however, being subtly done to not draw you away from the story itself.Overall, I adored this book. Maniscalco truly has a talent for writing and that shines through in this novel. It was an absolute joy to read and I will be returning to it again and again.

Witches, demons and vampires. Yesss please!!!

"In the end, the monster we feared didn’t come from Hell. He came from privilege."- The Kingdom of the WickedSoon as I read the blurb of this book, I was hooked. Witches, demons and vampires is right up my ally - I love the Hollawen vibe! 🎃The beginning was good, the character and world building was interesting. The one thing this book lacked was the flow (which was abit disappointing). Each problem was resolved so quickly, like there wasn't enough time for it to marinade and then something else would happen straight after. Also, the amount of demons we get introduced to, blimey it was hard to keep up!However, it was very easy to read which I really liked. It did end on a cliff hanger and I am very intrigued see how things unfold in the next book. The second part is meant to be more NA which I'm really looking forward to 😁I'm rating this a 3.5⭐Emilia on the hunt for her twin sisters killer only to be bound by force to Wrath a brooding Prince of the lowest pits of Hell. Soon secrets start to unravel and everything Emilia has known all her life is not what it seems. She is forced to make decisions that shape the rest of her life. Can she withstand all the obstacles and continue on this dangerous journey?

Kept me interested until the end

Great supernatural storyline, have to admit I worked out one of the killers early. The storey line keeps you interested and there's lots happening and lots of twists and turns..
