The House Hardcover – Illustrated, September 1, 2009

I had a copy of Cinderella illustrated by Roberto Innocenti when I was a child and it was the most magical book I'd ever seen. Now I have my own baby and I bought him The House in the hopes that when he's older he will love Innocenti's drawings as much. This book is gloriously beautiful, and the poem has so much dignity and gravitas. It's really an exceptional book.

I saw this in the library and had to buy this for myself. It's beautifully drawn and just a captivating book. I have it on display on my shelf.

This book is so authentically northern Italian. I love it!

I found the text to be a bit dense and pretentious. However, the pictures are very detailed and tell their story own story. My toddler was enthralled by the pictures, spending a long time pointing out all the interesting things in each picture. I really enjoyed looking at the art with him and explaining what was happening.

Spectacular visual detail and artistry, which reinforces the poetic dialogue of the author.

A winning combination of poetry and illustration.
