The mortar and pestle are sturdy and easy to clean. The big advantage is the silicone top that keeps brittle material in the bowl and makes crushing it much easier with little mess.

I have a thing for mortar's and pestles weird right? I use them though for my herbal concoctions and this one works very well. It's so pretty and I love the lid too. Keeps me from flinging herbs out of the mortar.

This set is really nice, especially considering how inexpensive it is! It's just the right size, too, for most things I need to grind up by hand. We have used it for peppercorns and nuts so far. Is heavy duty, doesn't tip over, and is very easy to rinse out.

I needed something to crush up vitamins for my dog. This is great! makes a fine powder. Solid, easy to clean!

I have to give my dog heart medication twice a day. It’s not available in a liquid and the only way I can get it into him is by crushing the pill, adding it to applesauce and giving it to him by syringe. I was using a plastic twist type crusher. It was a time consuming pain and, at best, only got it to a texture similar to very coarse sand.This product was a little larger than I was looking for, but that also may contribute to its effectiveness. It is heavy and very sturdy. Most importantly, it works perfectly! In seconds the pill is crushed to a very fine powder, the consistency of flour. I recommend getting a small stiff bristled paint brush at a craft store to use to sweep all of the crushed pill out to ensure giving the full dose.The lid is just so-so. Not really sure why one would even be needed. It doesn’t fit tight, but I guess it could be used as a dust cover? This mortar and pestle was such a reasonable price and would be well worth it with or without the lid.If you need something to crush pills, don’t hesitate. Get this! It’s study and simple, so I see no reason why it won’t last for a VERY long time. Best purchase in a long time!!

The base is non-skid because of a thick foam, not rubber. The foam could easily get dirty or wear over time, so I am returning. Seemed to work fine for crushing my cats pills, but not so much for crushing treats. I did like how heavy it was though.

Like this product, easy to use and mess free due to lid provided. I used it for crushing cashew and nuts and it works superb. Crushed easily and mess free. Liked it.

the product details it is clearly mentioned that the country of origin is India. But I get a package in which is written made in China.. this is sheer cheating.
